Free is a real plan, not a trial
An individual account with no workspace is free forever. Not a limited tier that expires — unlimited prompts, unlimited steps, fill-in variables, version history, and full export to JSON or Markdown whenever you want it.
You only pay when prompts stop being a personal thing and start being a team thing. That is the moment a workspace earns its keep, and it is the only moment we charge for.
How seats are billed
There is no seat cap and no seat slider. Billing follows the member list: when someone joins, the subscription grows by one seat and charges the prorated amount for the rest of the current period straight away. When someone leaves, the unused portion is credited against your next invoice rather than refunded.
Only the workspace owner sees or manages billing. An admin can run the member list and the shared folders without ever seeing a card or an invoice. Payments and invoices are handled by Stripe, so card details never touch our systems.
The 30-day trial
Every workspace starts a 30-day free trial the moment it is created, with no card required. Adding a card during the trial does not restart the clock or charge you early — it just attaches a card behind the trial already running, so nothing interrupts at the end.
If the trial ends with no card on file, the workspace goes read-only rather than losing anything. Adding a card picks up exactly where you left off.
Cancelling, and what read-only means
You can cancel any time from Workspace → Billing → Manage billing, the same Stripe portal where you update a card or switch between monthly and annual. Cancelling stops future billing; it does not refund what has already been charged.
A workspace that is cancelled, or whose payment has not gone through, goes read-only until it is reactivated. Read-only applies to everyone in the workspace including the owner, and it covers personal prompts as well as shared ones: everything can still be opened and read, nothing can be created, edited or deleted. Nothing is ever deleted for being read-only.
There are two ways out. Add a card, and everything unfreezes immediately. Or, if the team is winding down, the owner can remove the other members and delete the workspace — which reverts them to a free individual account with their own prompts untouched.
Rolling out to a whole organisation
Past a few hundred people, per-seat stops being the sensible shape. A flat site licence with onboarding and support is available — email hello@betterpeople.com.au and tell us roughly how many people and which tools they use.

What happens to our prompts if we cancel?
Nothing is deleted. The workspace goes read-only: everyone can still open and read every prompt, but nobody can create, edit or delete anything until a card is added. The owner can also delete the workspace and revert to a free individual account, keeping their own prompts.
Do you offer refunds?
